Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

Chocolate dipped strawberries are one of the most delightful treats you can find. But, why buy it when you can easily make them Latino style?

This recipe is simple and inexpensive. If you need to sweeten your special one, bring a dessert to a party or indulge your family try this recipe by simply using Latin American chocolate bars instead of the traditional chocolate!

When I make this recipe I serve it as a dessert after Patricia McCausland's famous sea food chowder. Keep in mind the chocolate in this recipe doesn't quite hardens, it stays a bit soft. For me it is more luxurious!

How To Make the Best Strawberries with Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips. The ones that come in a bag for pancakes, cookies, etc. If you want to be creative and close to your Latino roots find a Latin American chocolate bar, yes! a chocolate bar to melt instead of the typical chocolate chips that come in bags.

    I have used chocolatina Jet de mani from Colombia to make this recipe without the heavy cream and it tastes incredibly! If you like dark chocolate try Grenada Chocolate Company from Venezuela.

  • 3 tablespoons of heavy cream
  • 1 quart of strawberries. I prefer long stem ones if available.
  • Directions

  • Place a glass bowl over a pot of hot water to melt the chocolate. Make sure the pot on low. This is what we call in Spanish a baño Maria
  • Mix the chocolate and cream until completely smooth. Still with the heat in low.
  • Immerse the strawberries in the mix.
  • Place them on tin foil or wax paper until chocolate hardens and dries a bit more.
